World Heart Day in Sri Lanka

The Sri Lanka Heart Association arranged a heart health walk from the Institute of Cardiology in Colombo to Asha Central Hospital through the busy roads of Colombo. All the participants wore World Heart Day T-shirts with logo plus the wording "Women, heart disease and stroke". Health education leaflets on the above theme were distributed to the public. Television discussions and write-ups in the newspapers were organised and a one and a half hour live phone-in TV discussion was held on the 24th September. Three 15-minute programmes on World Heart Day and its theme were telecast at prime time on the 26th, 27th and 28th September.
